National Conference GREEN CITY
‘TOO LITTLE AND TOO MUCH WATER – ADAPTATION’              IN POLISH

September 3, 2020

Today’s cities are challenged by the impact of climate change and growing social awareness. A long-lasting drought and at the same time the growing problem of the effects of torrential rains, as well as the growing expectations of residents who require good-quality and accessible greenery are some of the more specific problems that city managers, specialists responsible for managing, designing and maintaining green areas have to solve today.

This year's edition of the conference on public greenery, initiated in 2000 by Agencja Promocji Zieleni and the Nurserymen Association, focused on the subject of water and green materials. Ways of dealing with too little or too much water, as well as the planning of surface retention systems, their elements, effectiveness and economic aspects. During the conference, you will find answers to these issues along with practical tips on what to pay attention to when designing and contracting retention facilities. We will also look at green investments from the plant side. In addition to a specific selection of trees, grasses, perennials and roses, we proposed practical tools and methods that allow elimination of errors and increase the effectiveness of gardening and landscape projects. We presented proven projects, and the experts' suggestions will inspire you to act and make changes in your “own backyard”.

The meeting is addressed to:
• municipal gardeners, inspectors and specialists from Environmental Protection, Municipal and Investment Departments, responsible for public greenery in cities and townships • landscape architects • representatives of landscape companies • administrators and managers of greenery in housing complexes

Debate - KNOWLEDGE FOR TRADE
'NEW REALITY - NEW THREATS,
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES'
                 IN POLISH AND ENGLISH

September 4, 2020

This year's meeting of people active in the horticultural trade industry took the form of an online debate. We focused on sharing experiences and ideas, mainly concerning the new Covid-19 realities, especially on re-evaluation of priorities and problems related to stocking or the local nature of deliveries. We tried to draw conclusions for the future. Another issue on the agenda, raised in September not by accident, was the activation of autumn sales, and new trends and opportunities to reach the customer. It is also worth considering the advantages of centers indicated in the questionnaires compared to networks - the quality and range of the plant assortment, competent and friendly service - how can these be developed, which activities can add to the list of advantages?

We got to know different points of view, diagnoses and ideas of experts from Poland and abroad. The debate was attended by specialists active in retail and wholesale sales, plant production as well as consulting and trade support.

The debate is addressed to:
• owners and employees of garden centers • buyers, managers and employees of the “Garden” departments of building and garden chain stores • nurserymen that supply plants and run their own retail outlets
