Plants at the centre
The 2026 edition of the Green City Conference places plants at the centre of how we think about cities — not as decoration, but as the foundation of responsible urban design. The programme focuses on the relationship between the quality of greenery, horticultural expertise, landscape design and the challenges facing contemporary cities.
The conference, taking place on 4 September during the 33rd edition of GREEN IS LIFE, will explore a more conscious approach to plants and trees in public spaces — from quality assessment and species selection to root protection and the design of green-friendly infrastructure. Participants will also examine how the roles of nurseries, designers and local authorities are evolving in the process of creating resilient, functional and healthy cities.
The conference is aimed at landscape architects, designers, municipalities, green contractors, nurseries and all professionals involved in shaping contemporary urban spaces.
